I remember seeing a very successful cousin post this meme awhile back and it stuck with me. Say what you will about memes, but sometimes their messages can leave a strong impression. And this did for me.
When I thought about this, it occurred to me that my mindset was wrong. I have been given all the resources, all the support and stability many would pray for. I grew up privileged, in a safe home, what were my excuses for not achieving what I had hoped to?
Recently I set a goal and I’m watching myself accomplish it one day at a time. Losing weight and making health and wellness a major part of my life has been something I’ve wanted to do since I was young. Unfortunately, my mind was on the left side of this image. I had to endure struggle to see my full potential and to truly begin believing in myself.
But what do I know? Really, all I can say is now I get it. I can honestly relate to this meme. Just because we can’t see someones hard work doesn’t mean they aren’t working. All we see is the outcome. And to get there, the journey is rocky and full of twists, turns and surprises. In the end, the challenges are always worth it.
